This is a great location for outdoor recreation! There is a playground for kids at the south end of the park. Lots of picnic tables there too. A hike and bike trail winds for a mile or so along Shoal Creek. Proximity to downtown and the UT campus makes this a popular spot for many.
It's right across the street from "Violence Park". Much nicer. And the views of the city are amazing. And they have vintage hair salon accessories, Farrah Fawcett-Majors posters and pictures of random things that have nothing to do with the park itself.
Take your grandmother. She'll appreciate your help with her life.
A wonderful park that is just off the side of downtown. There is a great running/biking trail that goes through the park leading downtown straight through to zilker park.
It has many different areas and plenty of events happen here throughout the year.
In the park, you can find:
-a bathroom
-parks
-volleyball sand courts
-open fields
-basketball courts
This is a lovely park so close to downtown but as you walk the trails the tree lined path by a creek makes you feel you are in rural hill country. Well, with exception of all the people and crazy amount of dogs also on the path with you!
There is a playground with next to very long tables on one end of the park. A splash pad is also a popular spot in the summer.
It is very common to see homeless people walking by or riding their bikes by. This usually is no big deal but something to keep an eye out for in the evenings for safety.

What a great park! It’s an easy walk from downtown Austin, right along the Shoal Creek Trail. Whatever you are looking for in a city park, it’s here: playgrounds for the kids, large picnics areas, a splash pad, natural sculptures, open grass fields and beautiful well-shaded trails. There are also bathrooms and water fountains at the South end of the park by the splash pad, along with large grills.
