French Quarter Buffet

Average place to stay. Clean, comfortable, and gets the job done. Little weird smelling though, probably from the years of smoking they tried to clean out. Also, they still don't have their casino license since the renovation, so it's eerily dead on the casino floor. However, it is directly connected to the Hard Rock Casino, so it really doesn't matter.

Update (12/24): Steve— Thank you for your prompt response. If you are willing to compensate us with a free stay at the Showboat, I will give your establishment another chance and will consider revising my review. Original Post (12/23): The emptiness of the Showboat is unsettling. There are no slot machines, tables, or games of any kind on the floor, and all of the restaurants and shops are closed, which creates an eerie atmosphere. We left the casino and went to the Tropicana instead for dinner and dancing. Our party booked two rooms but, even though we had requested adjoining rooms and the hotel was a ghost town, our request could not be satisfied. Instead we were placed directly next door to a family with young children, who, starting at 5 AM, started running through the halls, screaming, and continuously slamming doors. No logical reasoning can explain why we were placed on the same floor, let alone side-by-side. When we called down to the front desk for assistance, we were told that security would be right up to handle the situation, yet the ruckus continued for hours, until we finally lost faith in our ability to find uninterrupted sleep and left the Showboat. On a positive note, the room was generally clean, but run-down. The small coffee pot and refrigerator served their purposes. Staff could have been friendlier, but they weren’t terrible. Bottom line: I won’t stay here again, but if you just need a cheap bed to sleep in, this place will probably work for you.

The show boat needs to do better. I know AC has gone through rough times the past 20 years there is still no excuse for things not to be done. If you are not going to run the hotel properly then maybe sell it to one of the TWO hotels on either side of you. For $170 on Saturday night I expect certain things just like a $59 Saturday room. This place is smacked in the middle of the hard Rock and oceans. There is no reason why the showboat can't come up a bit. For starters try putting a fitted sheet on the mattress and not a regular one. The list of things that this place would have to do is to long to list here. Look, if you need a place to stay for a night or two guess you could. Would have been better off spending the extra money and stayed at The Hard Rock or Oceans.

I visited the Showboat last time I was in Atlantic City. It was a pretty good experience for the few hours I was there. I usually stay at Resorts since I have been a member there for so long and they give me free rooms for my loyalty. I would like to try to stay overnight at the Showboat to give a more complete review of the room, amenities and restaurants. If and when I do I'll give a more detailed review.

* UPDATE TO MY EARLIER REVIEW I need to express my gratitude to the General Manager for promptly reaching out to me to discuss my situation from last Saturday evening. Bruce was, warm and friendly and expressed legitimate remorse about my family's recent dining experience. He was deeply apologetic and troubled by my experience. He has a strong desire is to make it right with the hopes of getting a second chance too make a good impression. Based on our conversation I would say that they have earned that chance. I have been involved in customer experience driven businesses for over 40 years and I have found very few managers who get it. I am happy to say that Bruce gets it! He doesn't just want things to be good he wants them to be extraordinary and he is willing to address a negative situation swiftly so as to figure out a way to create a positive one. Thanks to Bruce's quick actions my family looks forward to visiting Il Mulino in the future and sharing in the type of experience that we have previously come to expect. The food was excellent, unfortunately the experience did not come close to the quality of the food. The restaurant is exceptionally noisy and the wait staff was incredibly inattentive. We were celebrating my Son's birthday at Il Mulino because he loves your location in Las Vegas, where he has had the pleasure of dining twice, and I must say I have never seen him so unhappy. As he likes to say when you dine in a restaurant such as yours, that you are not only paying for the quality of the food but equally the quality of the experience and when the experience doesn't come close to matching the food quality, well, you feel like you have been cheated, almost violated and robbed of what you have come to expect. Unfortunately your staff at your Atlantic City location is utterly incompetent when compared to your staff in Las Vegas. In Vegas we were made to feel like Kings, in Atlantic City we were made to feel like commoners. Wait staff arguing amongst themselves, one audibly suggesting that the Captain should go to hell while finally filling our water glasses and that he would like to strike the Captain in the head with the water pitcher. Allowing water glasses to remain unfilled and rarely checking to make sure that everything was OK, when well, things were anything but OK. I will be in Las Vegas September 7th to the 11th and I was planning to dine at your location in the Forum Shops, now I'm not quite so sure. There is work that needs to be done in Atlantic City, some heavy lifting I'm afraid and if not attended to, it could turn what were once raving fans into unhappy critics.

Made a reservation for Mulino 2 weeks ahead of time. 2 days before they sent me a text to confirm the reservation which I did. I even called to reconfirm We got there they had no reservation then they told me I was at trattoria we’ll they had no reservation there either they blamed it on the computer. Then we went to the tables not enough more slots than tables Then we tried the lounge well that was a joke we sat there for 30 minutes no one came over to the table was still dirty. We asked one of the employees if we can get some service we waited another 30 minutes she walks around with that little computer she had no clue what she is doing. Well I hope things improve there because I give it a year and it will close That will b our last time at the hard rock.

Food was good and the wait staff was excellent but their portions were small and their prices are out of control. Convinced us to get the lagostino (spelling?) Shrimp appetizer which was very small and we were appalled to see it was $32. Gone in 3 bites. Only offered one small piece of bread in the beginning and never came to our table again with bread. For what u pay here they should keep the bread coming. Almost $20 each glass of wine. If their prices weren't so high then it would have been 4 stars. I ordered the chicken with the mushrooms and it was very good. The cheese cake was just okay.

I was visiting the boardwalk and visited the Showboat because I heard there is a pinball arcade. It was Independence Day so by the time I showed up it was already closed (closed at 6pm). From what I could see, there were some interesting pinball machines and even a Pacman machine. You pay after you play, based on how many hours you've been there rather than per game you've played. From what I could tell, it would have been fun.
