Haunted Ships and Casinos

Stories of paranormal occurrences are told about many different types of places; houses, forests, churches, bridges, and even entire cities to name a few. But, for the URComped family, we are going to specifically look at some haunting stories of Ships and Casinos. During our "Who wants to win Freeplay/Onboard Credit" game (played similar to Who wants to be a Millionaire), the URComped team answers trivia questions about Haunted Ships and Casinos. To join in the fun, tune into our Facebook LIVE on Thursdays at 4:35 pm CST and put your answers in the comments for your chance to win Freeplay or Onboard Credit.

1. BEWARE THE HAUNTED FLOORS

Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is said to be haunted. It all started back in 1980, when the property was owned by MGM. Due to faulty wiring, a huge fire broke out that overtook the entire building. Desperate guests jumped out their windows to their deaths when they realized the firefighter couldn’t rescue them in time. This fire killed 87 guests and injured 650 people. After reopening as Bally's, there have been many reports of scary activity there. Rumor is that the spirits of the people who died on that day are said to haunt the higher floors of Bally’s, 19 through 24. Guests and employees reported seeing eerie ghost-like figures walking around and smoke shadows coming from the towers.

2. A GHOST'S SHIP

The MV Lyubov Orlova was used as an Antarctic cruise ship for over 30 years. It was taken out of commission in 2010 and sold for parts two years later. After it was sold, the ship broke free from its tow and began cruising free by Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula. The Lyubov Orlova was spotted near Ireland’s coast in  2013. Aside from a few wandering (and very eerie) distress signals, the Lyubov Orlova was never seen or heard from again. The ghost ship still lurks out there somewhere sending out distress signals….

3. PHANTOM OF THE FLAMINGO

Mobster Bugsy Siegel was shot in 1947 and, according to the masses, he seems to have chosen the Flamingo as his afterlife home. Apparently, many guests and workers have come forward saying they have seen his ghost hanging around the Presidential Suite or even lounging by the pool in the middle of the night. One cleaning lady quickly quit her job after encountering the mobster’s phantom during one of her shifts.

4. THE HAUNTINGS ON QUEEN MARY

The Queen Mary is considered to be the most haunted cruise ship in the world. There have been numerous reports over the years about sightings onboard especially with cabin B340. This cabin used to not be rented out because of many reports of incidents, some violent. But because of all the buzz, the room has reopened for people to book. During the last voyage in 1967, the guests staying in B340 complained saying that there was knocking on the door in the middle of the night. Other complaints include bathroom lights turning on by themselves, the sink faucet turning on and off on its own, and unexplained bathroom doors shutting. Other guests have reported the covers of their bed being pulled off while asleep and waking to see a dark figure standing at the foot of the bed. Another chilling incident includes brand new carpet, which had just been laid was torn up and propped up against the wall. Other haunted areas include the swimming pool and boiler room. A few of the spotted ghosts have been a ship engineer that died, and still hangs around the engine room, a lady in white, and various children ghosts.

5. DON'T TOUCH THE TIKI MASK

Several years back, there used to be a large wooden tiki mask that dwelled at the entrance of the Tropicana Resort. This "mystic relic" has been said to possess a trapped spirit. Guests that touched it would develop a repulsive purple rash. When visitors would take photos and pose in front of the mask, a strange purple haze can be seen coming from the mask and blurring the image.
Management eventually decided to remove the mask, which created even more rumors about it being possessed.
