We recently stayed for three nights for a special events weekend at the Stay Saratoga, recently rebranded from the Carriage House Inn. Along with a group of other friends, we have been staying at the Carriage House Inn for over 30 years. With the past two owners, after our stay we would book for the next year’s special event and would be penciled in for that weekend, confirming in the beginning of the next year. The new owner was uninterested in accepting our advanced bookings (most times guaranteeing up to 5 room reservations). For this past reservation, we were told that we have to book the rooms online. We did so in December of last year and our credit card was immediately charged the full amount, over $600.00 for all 3 nights! When complaints were made about the full charge, the owner would not change the policy.
At our arrival, we found that the cleanliness of our room was well below the “old standards” of the previous owners. The new wood floors were sticky and filthy. The kitchen sink drain board was black with dirt and stains. The bathroom inner shower liners was full of pink slimy mold as was some of the shower tiles. Other friends had similar problems with their rooms. The “in room continental breakfast” consisted of two frozen breakfast sandwiches and motel sized packets of coffee. Also, be aware that not all the “Deluxe Double” rooms have the same amenities. A few are large and have a full kitchens and others quite small with just a motel sized fridge and coffee maker.
In the past, the Carriage House Inn was ALWAYS totally booked for that weekend. With the new ownership, there were still rooms available during our stay. Sadly, after over 30 years of staying at the Carriage House Inn, our group will no longer stay there under the current ownership
