If you pine for "Old Vegas," it probably never existed the way you imagine it did, but the closest you can come in the modern day is right here at the El Cortez. The rooms are... classic, which means small and with only basic comforts, but they are kept clean, and you can't beat the prices. Similarly, the casino may well feel like some eccentric uncle's tricked-out basement rec room, but you'll get as fair a shake as can be had, including $5/hand single-deck twenty-one, with 3:2 payoffs on naturals! Sadly, the new 24-hour coffee shop is a poor replacement for the old classic, but no one's perfect. Heck, you're on Fremont East, there are plenty of great places to eat without damaging your wallet.
