Il Casino dell’Aurora è così denominato in quanto ospita l’omonimo, splendido, affresco di Guido Reni eseguito nel 1614. Illusionisticamente poggiato al soffitto del piccolo ambiente come quadro riportato, il dipinto raffigura Apollo nel suo carro preceduto da Aurora, che porta la luce al mondo. L’affresco di Reni è uno dei capolavori del classicismo romano e richiama i rilievi dei sarcofagi antichi, con cui la facciata del Casino è riccamente istoriata. Un viaggio nella cultura del primo ‘600 romano dove le istanze del nuovo linguaggio barocco si fondono mirabilmente con le influenze dell’arte classica, in una stordente e affascinante ricerca del Bello, sotto il segno di Apollo.
