I really enjoy the Tropicana but make sure you stay in the Havana tower. We had a great 2 night stay there and the rooms were clean but another couple we were with tried to save money and booked a cheaper room in one of the other towers and they were disappointed. They were told there is no room service and had to stay in one of the other towers to have got that.
Back to our room and stay, the room in the Havana tower was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly although when I asked for adjoining rooms with my brother they gave us rooms that were next to each other but not connected, maybe my fault for not being more specific. There was some sound transfer between rooms but not anything horrible and expect to hear some people partying in a casino on the weekend unless you want to shell out money for an upgraded room. We got a king size standard room and the bed was very comfortable.
In terms of the casino and amenities I really enjoy the restaurants in the Tropicana. I recommend Carmines for large groups, I paid 440 for 11 people to eat till stuffed, this included a bottle of wine, a couple of drinks, 3 appetizers, a pasta dish, and 3 dinners. In my opinion that is an amazing deal at about 40 per person. The Cuban place nearby has fantastic Mojitos. There is a great buffet for breakfast and a Starbucks for coffee.
I am not a big gambler and prefer small stakes tables but there is wild west in walking distance for 5 dollar tables. My brother wanted to play the 25 dollar blackjack tables at the Tropicana and the first round of drinks came very fast.
Overall I had a very enjoyable experience and would say this is my hotel of choice in Atlantic city.
