The River Cree venue is probably one of the worst in the city. It's essentially a large, concrete and steel tent making for poor acoustics. All the seating is at one level, which means unless you're in the front row or very tall your view will be obstructed. And they didn't have the video screens working so you couldn't even count on a video of the performance to make up for the terrible view. Drink are also insanely expensive. I didn't want to pay the $3.50 for water at the bar so I went into the casino to get a plastic cup of the complimentary water. However I wasn't allowed to bring the water back through the doors into the venue area, which seems a bit ridiculous. The only real saving grace was how great the artist was, however even he commented on how lousy the venue was, calling it a "hollowed-out barn". It's embarrassing having artists come to our city, and this is the best we can do for them. Leaving was also a nightmare. There was nothing or no one directing traffic and cars were backed up in all directions for ages. But at least parking was free!
