The Eating House

This is an outstanding bar & restaurant. I ate here twice over a weekend I spent in Lander and would go out of my way to come here again. Cocktails were excellent. They stock a nice variety of gins and other spirits. They have Wyoming whiskey, popular in these parts, and the bartender knew how to add flavors to an old fashioned to make it palatable. Between Denver and Jackson, you won't find a better cocktail bar. Maybe even between Denver and Calgary. The food was also outstanding. You can't really expect to find all locally sourced ingredients in central Wyoming, but the menu at Cowfish is thoughtful, with local twists on familiar dishes. I was happy with the fish tacos, the seared dumplings and the Cobb salad. Service was also excellent. Servers were friendly but also knew what they were serving, where it came from and how it was prepared. I was with a small group that managed to ask a lot of questions, none of which phased the staff. Overall, this is an outstanding place, well worth a visit.
