This is such a lovely hotel and they have the worst staff manning their reception desk. We arrived on Dec. 22 and the hotel looked fairly empty. We had made a reservation for 5 days for a Luxury King View room because we were celebrating our 53rd wedding anniversary. On arrival we were told that all we had booked was a standard room that didn’t have a view, and we were talked into a $100 upgrade. After walking long hallways looking for the room and not finding it, we were told that not only had they written down the wrong room number but also sent us to the wrong tower. And when no apology came, and the fellow even thought it was funny that two elderly people we had walked all over the hotel looking for a room that didn’t exist, we were no longer interested in the upgrade and just asked for the standard room that we had originally booked. When we got to the room (12114) the keys didn’t work, so we had to walk all the way back to the reception desk. And again no apology. We are seniors close to 80 and prefer to do our walking in fresh air. And our standard room did have a beautiful view – both over the river and the mountains. We always celebrate our wedding anniversary at different hotels and they usually make us feel special. Not here. So sad!
