I've never been to jai alai before, nor am I particularly well-versed in the realm of simulcast establishments, so it's tough for me to judge the venue alone. However, for the uninitiated, it's really cool, and definitely fun for a night. I went on a Friday night, which is when I was guessing there'd be a big crowd, as I knew I wanted a lot of the vibe. However, there were maybe 50 people or so watching the game. It was still a total trip though. I'd heard all about jai alai being the world's fastest game, but I'd never seen it. Not only is it fast, it's difficult too. The auditorium to watch the game held 4000+ people. Maybe back in its heyday, they'd get it, but those days seem far away. The place was cheap though and the parking was free. If I were to compare it to other large betting establishments, I'd say that it's not so nice. It wasn't clean, the food was crappy, and the crowd is sketchy at best. But if you go in expecting that kind of vibe, it's a fun night.
