The Inn of the Mountain Gods is a beautiful resort, that is certain. But the poor customer service and false advertising to get customers into the casino gives this place a big thumbs DOWN. I took my son to ride the paddleboats a few summers ago. Paid over $30 to rent the boat for an hour. Immediately upon getting into the boat we had issues. My seat would not stay upright, kept popping back so that I had to lay horizontally to paddle. It was not a size issue.. my son was very thin about 14 years old and his seat would not remain upright either. Having to lay at a strange angle while wearing a full life vest was extremely uncomfortable. I managed to paddle us to land and jumped into the water at about 5 feet, got to the shore. Walked back along the banks, soaked, and told the people at the boat rental shack what happened. We had been in the boat maybe 5 minutes. No body offered to refund or partial refund. One of the attendants seemed annoyed they had to go walk along the banks to get the boat. This was a dark spot on our outing and I was out my money. The customer service should have refunded my money if all they had to rent out was a faulty boat. This could have been dangerous to someone who was unable to lay flat and paddle the boat to shore, they would have been stranded in the center of a deep lake. Now on to 2013. There are billboards and advertisements all over for the new Ford truck giveaway at the Inn of the Mt Gods casino. So my elderly mother went to see how to enter. She was there 11-17-13. She was told that she had to wager $100 for each single chance to enter to win. So she went out into the casino, lost $100+ and went back to customer service. The girl there then told her that her bets DID buy her one chance to enter to win, but only on her NEXT visit. This is outrageous and my mother should have been told that from the get go. She lives out of area and will not be returning to the casino, so she was out her $100+ and she did not even get her one chance to win the truck. Inn of the Mountain Gods should not have to resort to trickery and deception to fool elderly people or the gullible into wasting their money in a casino for a NON-chance to win a vehicle. I will never be returning back to the Inn of the Mountain Gods.
