If you're into casinos, you either want something out of James Bond or a place where you check your wallet is still in your pocket every five minutes. The Hippodrome falls somewhere between the two. On the plus, you don't need a membership to get in, on the negative, the atmosphere is minimal, the drinks selection is only acceptable and the croupiers are not the most engaged. Blackjack opens at ten pounds here, which feels a little steep for what it is. I prefer the Grosvenor at the other end of Leicester Square. A proper dive with sticky carpets.
