Though you can find cheaper all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ or a cheaper restaurant, in general, POT is an experience that Chef Roy Choi invites you into. The overall feel, at least for myself, is like I'm at a home. If the decor is any sign, it's supposed to be reminiscent of his parents' restaurant as a child per his memoir L.A. Son. And while every customer that eats there may have grown up differently, the blaring of 90s Hip-Hop and R&B puts me at an extra comfort - sometimes dancing in my chair.
As far as the food, there many things to like. The Poke Me (ahi poke) is decadent, the pickled cucumbers is a perfect compliment to any dish; Old School hot pot is what you want to order. Beef, glass noodles, and a spicy broth to fill you up. And if they still have it, the Beep Beep Bowl (uni rice) is another star that sometimes goes unnoticed.
