It was Oyster Festival, and we had spent our time listening to the Lost Bayou Ramblers in biblical rain rather than sampling the salt-water bivalve mollusc food items that were the stars of the event ... that's alot of words to mean that a) we were hungry and b) we were hungry for oysters, so we c) walked the 183 feet from the Mazarin to join the line at Acme.
To our astonishment, we were seated within 5 minutes - at the oyster bar - by the very pleasant (and patient) hostess. The boys behind the counter were very cool and and very busy and they took our order too, taking the time to explain any questions we may have had about the menu. Our food was delivered in intervals by a different friendly face, and all of them took the time to ask about our stay, or where we were from from.
The oysters were huge, they were freshly opened in front of us, they were well presented, *and* they were delicious - as advertised, as reviewed, and as expected!
I might mention that while we were seated (the oyster bar is up front by the door) the line outside moved quickly and consistently.
I can't recommend Acme Oyster House high enough!
