Played here a few times. No complaints. Just good old poker.

The casino is small, only a small group of table games. After doing some research I found out the slots here have the worst payout of any casino in Maine. Hops 99 is a nice little brew pub style restaurant inside the casino, great beer selection. The menu is alright not impressed with the food I have ordered.

Aces Players Club

I've been to a few poker rooms in town and unlike most this one is professional. The staff is very helpful, the dealers are engaged and helpful if you kind of zone out a bit after playing a few hours! There is a bar downstairs to drown your sorrows if you have a bad afternoon. The only thing I'd like to see is more onsite parking.

Aces Players Club

Don't know what all the negative reviews are about. I've been playing there once a week since I moved to Portland in July. Friendly staff, professional dealers and a well-run room. Sure you'll find a jerk or two playing but show me a room where that isn't the case. Good news is, jerks are usually fish and it's easy to get your revenge on them by taking their cash.

Aces Players Club

I have played at Aces since it opened. I have played at all the other downtown and east side clubs as well and I keep coming back to Aces because overall it is the best poker club and their volunteer dealers are the best. Have there been dealers with attitude? yes, but they're not there now. It is very well run. I never doubt its honesty or fairness. If a player creates a problem (seldom happens) it is handled. Players who continue to be problems are eighty-sixed, some permanently. BG's Bar provides both food and drink in the club. No need to go downstairs. By far, it has the best shoot-outs in town. I generally play during the day and their nooner is great, offering substantial prize pools in deep stack play.

Aces Players Club

I have played at all the poker clubs, and Aces is by far the weakest club. It's not the location that bothers me, it's not the game selection, or even the value of the tournaments. The reason Aces sucks is because the staff/players are awful. THIS IS THE UNFRIENDLIEST CLUB IN PORTLAND. When you walk in, you can tell nobody gives a crap you're there. When you go to the counter, there's no smiles or even a hello, it's strait "Give me your cash, let's go, let's go!" So you sit down at their noon tournament (which has a pretty good structure, being deep stack and all) and you look around. Nobody is having fun. The dealers are zombies. It's as if all the fun of the game has been sucked out. This is even truer in the shootouts where people can become stuck hundreds of dollars quite quickly. The vibe of the club has probably gotten even worst since they have introduced alcohol. If poker for you is a grind with no humor or fun whatsoever, and you just want to sit with your headphones on and glare at other players who are glaring back at you, sure, this club will work for you. But you certainly won't find me there, I'll be at The Players Club or Big Stacks Players Club where the staff/owners actually acknowledge you as human beings instead of $10 dollar signs.
